Learn how to succeed in PPC advertising and 5 mistakes to avoid in your PPC campaign.
Have quality product images
When you are creating a shopping campaign, the images are extremely important. You know the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” well this does not apply here because the images of your products are the first thing your audience will see and they WILL judge your products on them. So make sure you invest in good quality images of your products, or you will face the consequences by receiving fewer conversions.
Optimize description
An underrated, yet important aspect of a shopping campaign is the description included within the product feed. Often times it is easy to just include a short description. Just like a meta description. However, this is not recommended. You should be writing extensive descriptions with the keywords you wish to target. Google will take these keywords into account when showing these ads, especially if it is similar to someone’s search term. Do some research with the Google keyword planner, and see what search terms will bring you the most relevant traffic. Make sure you check out our guide on misconceptions of PPC advertising.
Target less competitive regions
Targeting the more populated areas such as New York City, Chicago, or Los Angeles would make sense if you had an extremely large budget. The metropolitan areas are full of competition in nearly very industry, so running any sort of PPC campaign is going to cost you a lot of money. So, what you should do, is run your campaign across the United States (assuming you’re trying to sell in the U.S) and see what locations bring you more conversions outside of the more populated areas. After a few weeks of testing, it could be in your best interest to give bid increases in those areas that are less populated but are giving you more conversions than you expected. Check out our guide on how to increase PPC impressions.
Adjust budget accordingly
As with any other pay per click campaign, it is important to monitor your bids and budget and to adjust accordingly. You don’t want to have a campaign that spends its daily budget within the first few hours fo the day, but you also don’t want to target too conservatively. So make sure you monitor your bids and budget to get the most out of your shopping campaign.
